Data Aggregators Help Your Business Show Up in Local Search
In the U.S. there are three primary data aggregators:
- InfoGroup,
- Neustar Localeze, and
- Foursquare
These businesses collect business information, regularly update and enrich the data, then sell it to other companies (ie. directories). The data aggregators have extensive reach across the Local Search Ecosystem, so if your business information on any of these sites is incorrect it means bad/wrong data regarding your business is published across a large network of sites.

Frequently Asked Questions
Infogroup, Localeze, and Foursquare are the three main data aggregators in the United States. They collect business data from a multitude of sources and distribute it to a large number of online platforms, including business directories and search engines. In this sense, they are by far the most influential players in the Local Search Ecosystem and they must be the foundation of every local SEO campaign’s citations-related part.
Acxiom is going into retirement at the end of December 2019 – they will be shutting down their directory and local search line. You can learn more about this change here, and why we believe Foursquare is the newest data aggregator in the U.S.A. (as of June 2019).
At the moment, we only offer this service for the US data aggregators.
The data aggregators treat practitioner listings in different ways.
Localeze does not have a specific policies for practitioner listings and usually treat practitioner listings as duplicates to the main business listing. That is why whenever we find practitioner listings on this data aggregators, we report them for removal/closing.
Infogroup have special rules for practitioner listings. They usually display practitioner listings in the following format:
Practice Name (Individual: Practitioner Name). For instance: Marble Orthodontics (Individual: James Marble)
Factual obtain practitioner data directly from the NPI registry database (this is the database of all medical practitioners in the US), so they have most medical practitioners’ profiles. They treat these profiles as separate listings, so if we find such listings, we update them.
We submit additions, updates, and removals through our agency accounts with the data aggregators, so the data gets published quickly and without having to go through the manual verification process.
While the management of these listings will expire with the aggregators after one year, your listings will not get deleted, and they will have been completed distributed to the aggregators distribution networks by then. The listings will technically be released from their management lock, and could potentially be subject to changes as the aggregators aggregate data and update their databases. If your offline sources such as your state business registration and utility bills match with the data on your aggregator listings, then changes to un-managed listings on the aggregators are unlikely to occur.
