Are Kiosks and ATMs Eligible for a Google Business Profile?

Yes, kiosks and ATMs are eligible for a Google Business Profile if they are permanently located, provide a contact method, list accurate hours, and follow best practices similar to those for bank ATMs.

This is another instance in which a business model has become quite common and is abundantly included in Google’s local results, but isn’t directly addressed in the guidelines. Back in 2019, I reached out to Google support to ask if kiosks like the Farmer’s Fridge model (which sells packaged meals via vending machines) were eligible for listings. Here’s my legacy screenshot of that exchange:

It was great to hear back from support, but the only problem was…there wasn’t any mention of kiosks in Google’s guidelines at that time, and there still isn’t in 2025! Everything we know unofficially about kiosks today comes courtesy of Google Business Profile Help Community Product Experts like Joy Hawkins and Colan Nielsen who released a video about informal conversations with Google about this model which yielded the following advice:

  • Kiosks are, indeed, eligible for GBPs when they meet specific criteria.
  • Kiosks must be permanently located (not set up for a temporary event).
  • Kiosks should display a phone number or other methodology for contacting company support.
  • If kiosks are located inside a container store, they must list a different phone number than the one listed by the store.
  • Do not create more than one listing per kiosk location, even if your locations feature more than one machine.
  • List accurate hours for when the public can access the kiosk. For example, if a kiosk is inside a container building, only list the hours that reflect open hours for that building. If, however, the kiosk is located outside, meaning that it is publicly accessible at all times, you should be able to list it as a 24-hour business.
  • Be sure the company website features a store locator element which displays all kiosk locations.

These unofficial best practices are strikingly similar to the formal guidelines for bank ATMs. Given this, I feel fairly confident about referencing a few of Google’s documented requirements for ATMs to further illuminate how to list a kiosk.

For example, when it comes to choosing categories for kiosks operating inside container locations, here is a screenshot of Google’s current guidelines for similar ATM models:

And here is another screenshot from the guidelines about clarifying location information, with the examples on the right being the ones Google finds acceptable:

And here is Google’s advice regarding hours for ATMs:

Finally, while the main Guidelines for representing your business on Google do not reference kiosks, there is at least one formal acknowledgment of this model in a separate document called Business eligibility and ownership guidelines, where we see the following:

In sum, if your kiosk complies with the guidelines and best practices I’ve covered here, it should be eligible for inclusion in Google’s local index.
