The New Local Citation Finder: Better, Faster, Stronger

Hey friends! Good news! The Local Citation Finder is now finding twice as many citations (sometimes three times as many) AND it’s twice as fast. We have completely redesigned our citation discovery algorithm and we have rebuilt our back-end crawling and processing system from the ground up.

We recommend listening to this while you read the rest of the post

Way More Citations

Every once in a while people would report that the LCF didn’t find a citation that they knew they had. That irked me, and we set out to solve this problem. I would have been pleased with a 20% improvement in citation discovery, but our new algorithm is consistently returning about twice as many citations in the tests we have run. Perhaps more importantly, these additional citations we’re finding are legit! We’re not just returning a bunch of additional junk like reverse phone lookup sites. I’m confident that the LCF is the most comprehensive citation discovery and reporting tool on the market.

Woah! Three times as many results in some keyphrase searches!

Way Faster Results

Our new crawling and processing system is super fast, and super scalable. Our old system would queue up jobs and run them sequentially, but our new system can run dozens of jobs simultaneously to deliver results in seconds rather than minutes. It’s so fast now that we have installed a “spinner” on the results page. You can just jump over to the page now and watch the spinner run, rather than wait for an email.

Most business search jobs finish in 20 seconds or less.
40 seconds or less for keyphrase search.

Our dispatch and processing system is now distributed across multiple servers and we can just keep adding servers as our user base grows. If any of you want to start providing comprehensive citation reporting for thousands of locations per month, our API will have no trouble handling the volume.

Try it Out!

The best citation analysis and reporting tool is now considerably better. We’d love for you to test it out and let us know what you think. Now, go on and get them citations!

  • Darren… Local Citation Finder has been a great tool for me. Especially with online searches being conducted on mobile more often with Google Places having great positioning, I can see where this tool would be vital… And you have improved it. I will check it out. As far Daft Punk video…. I was duped. I thought it was cool using the cartoon imagery and awaiting to see how it was going to segue into your post, but you wanted it as atmosphere mood music… oh….

  • Thanks Matt! I can’t reveal our secret sauce, but we’re returning way more citations because of our new and improved discovery algorithm.

  • This is the premiere tool to reveal your own citations and those of your competitors on the internet right now. Citations are the only true future-proof SEO that I know of and this tool shows you were you can get them. Great tool and really free….no obligation to use it.

  • Congrats Darin! The API is a great addition that has me thinking. I’ve found citations to have diminishing “ROT” (return on time – I just made that up. ha ha) value at a certain point.

I would love a tool that alerted me when duplicates or errors of profiles were detected on a group of “authority” citations that are important to us. Basically, I’m concerned with consistency at about 50 (aggregators, directories, search engines) places. I personally need a tool to hold my team accountable for those activities, alert them if our consistency efforts have be thwarted for any number of reasons, as well as a reporting tool client reporting.

I haven’t used your tool in a while. I’m going to play in the sandbox again. Let me know if you see any merit in these thoughts and if the API could help me with these efforts.

  • Hey Darren,

Awesome upgrade! How many more packs of cigarettes did you have to give those monkeys to work that much faster? 😉

Question- what do you think of possibly adding citation sources that allow do follow links in their directory? Is that something that would help w/ overall SEO?

  • LOVE YOUR TOOL and we’ve been using for years. haven’t used for a few wks so excited to see the changes. Thank you Darren!! Great house music vid too!!
