  • Hi Darren. I was wondering if you could help me with a local listing question. We’ve always heard If a business uses the same phone number for multiple offices it can hurt their local rankings. Would you say this is still true? What is they have two offices in the same city, does that make a difference? Do businesses have any easy options to work around that, like getting a Google voice number or do they really need a separate phone line? I’d appreciate your input!

    • Hi Ashley,

It’s generally best practice to have unique phone numbers for each location. I think it’s a factor, but probably not a huge one. It’s something to consider, but I think there are higher value action items to pursue. For example, I would think that one quality local link to each location landing page would be more beneficial than spending the time to get unique numbers, update Google, and then update all your citations.
